The rehabilitation product supplier has donated $200,000 and recently pledged another $100,000 through Mission: Next Step, a charity its CEO created for returning veterans
North Coast Medical, a family-owned supplier of rehabilitation products, is currently donating five percent of each sale to the VA or Department of Defense through Mission: Next Step, a charity created by Mark Biehl, the company’s President and CEO. The funds go directly to the Warrior Foundation Freedom Station, which honors and supports the military men and women who have so bravely served and sacrificed for our country. To date, the company has delivered $200,000 and recently pledged another $100,000 to the charitable foundation, which brings the total to $300,000.
Warrior Foundation Freedom Station assists four main groups of Warriors: (1) The seriously injured returning home from war; (2) those suffering from post-traumatic stress (PTS) and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI); (3) those undergoing physical or occupational therapy; and (4) warriors who have been medically retired and remain in the community.
To serve this last group in particular, Warrior Foundation Freedom Station pioneered a new approach and created Freedom Stations: unique recovery transition centers and housing facilities that provide injured Warriors with the acclimation time, guidance, and resources to successfully make the transition from military service to civilian life.
North Coast Medical’s commitment to the military has a long history. The company’s co-founder, Frank Biehl, proudly served in WWII and then returned home as an American veteran to help launch the rehabilitation product firm.
Mark Biehl, a second-generation CEO, exponentially grew the family company. Today, North Coast Medical has expanded across a continuum of rehabilitation sectors, negotiated new distribution agreements with best-in-class branded products, and acquired other companies. In addition, the company designs and manufactures proprietary brands, and creates e-commerce opportunities for clinicians through customizable product websites. Under Biehl, the company has grown to be a global supplier that distributes internationally.
“Extending our company’s charitable reach honors veterans and my parents’ legacy while exemplifying the caring nature of rehabilitation clinicians, who dedicate themselves to healing and enhancing other people’s lives,” says Biehl.
